Scholarship regulation
On the occasion of its 80th Anniversary, Istituto Marangoni offers 80 scholarships to attend its schools all over the world to 80 candidates. A unique opportunity for unique people.
This Regulation refers to the second scholarship campaign of the 80th Istituto Marangoni Anniversary, for those applying in 2015, for courses starting in the February 2016 intake.


Funding Opportunities
The funding opportunities available for this Campaign are:

  • 5.000 € deduction on the tuition fee
  • 50% deduction on the tuition fee and enrolment fee
  • 100% deduction on the tuition fee

for courses at undergraduate and postgraduate level offered by Istituto Marangoni at:

  • Milano School of Design
  • Milano School of Fashion
  • London School of Fashion
  • Paris School of Fashion

Other scholarships might be available for designated special projects.

Please, note that courses at postgraduate level are the following:

  • Master’s Degree for the London School of Fashion*
  • Cycle de Spécialisation for the Paris School of Fashion*
  • Master’s programme for the Milano School of Fashion and School of Design**

*Students who successfully complete the programmes taught in English in Paris and London will be awarded with a master’s degree by Manchester Metropolitan University - (UK); master’s degrees include a 12 weeks work placement. 180 credits points are available in order to gain a master’s degree upon successful completion of the course. All candidates should meet specific requirements (please check the website www.mmu.ac.uk/international indicating your nationality and study level); for further details please do not hesitate to contact the information office at the chosen school.
**Students who successfully complete the programmes taught in Milano will be awarded with an Istituto Marangoni certificate.

 

How to apply
In order to submit the scholarship application, candidates will need to:

  • register on the Istituto Marangoni scholarship website;
  • upload their own dream (see below) or confirm/update it;
  • submit the application(s) in the dedicated website area, including all the necessary documents.

Candidates can submit the application for a maximum of three different programmes.
Participation in the selection is free of charge. No extra costs will be charged other than those deriving from the candidate’s internet network connection for accessing the service, which are the responsibility of the user.
Istituto Marangoni assumes no responsibility for events beyond its reasonable control including, without limitation: the access, bar to access, the malfunction and difficulties relating to the technical instruments, the software and the hardware, the transmission and the connection, the data which can bar the candidate from participating in the selection.
An indispensable requisite for the participation in this selection is the candidates’ explicit consent to the processing of his/her personal data.


About “your dream” and how the platform works
Candidates shall present their free-subject creative concept (the dream) through the following:

  • one or more images (.jpg, max size: 2mb per image, minimum dimension: 600 x 400 px),
  • an evocative phrase about the dream (max 100 characters),
  • a profile description (max 800 characters),
  • a candidate photograph (.jpg, max size: 2mb per image, minimum dimension: 720 x 500 px).

Istituto Marangoni Scholarship Committee will select the scholarship winners based on the material provided by the candidate as well as the creativity and originality of his/her dream.
Upon the validation by a designated Istituto Marangoni moderator, the dream will feature as part of a web gallery presented in a specific section of the site.
Therefore, the dreams will be public, they can be shared on social networks and voted (liked) on the website. In any way will the voting affect the judgement of the Scholarship Committee, as scholarship eligibility criteria are only based on merit.
Candidates who qualify and accept a scholarship will be reported on the public “Winners” web gallery.
Materials submitted may not contain people and/or images and/or contents which are or could be considered offensive, illegal and/or immoral, nor sexually suggestive materials which promote, also potentially, offensive, profane, violent, obscene, or hate speech based upon the race and/or sex of an individual or group.
The rights of use for iconographic materials are considered property of the Candidate.
All accompanying texts in the project (the profile description and the phrase which summarises dreams and expectations) shall be written in English. Content in any other language will not be made visible. Istituto Marangoni reserves the right to exclude from participation to the initiative candidates who submit materials which do not comply with the Regulation.


Deadlines
Candidates interested in courses at postgraduate and undergraduate level, starting in the February 2016 intake, shall upload the requested materials and finalize the application(s) no later than Sunday November 29th, 2015.
Application deadlines for any eventual special project will be specified in a dedicated regulation.
Candidates will receive a confirmation e-mail for each scholarship application submitted.
If candidates do not receive the confirmation email, are invited to contact scholarships@istitutomarangoni.com no later than 24 hours after submission.
Applicants will be notified of the scholarship assignment once the Scholarship Committee will have come to a final decision, over the following indicative period: December 15th to 31st , 2015.
Special projects: specific periods are identified in the special project regulation.


Awarded candidates will be asked to confirm the acceptance of the offered scholarship within 2 working days and to pay the amounts due (if any) within 5 working days from the acceptance day.
Lacking a feedback and the payment of the enrolment fee from applicant side, awarded candidate name will be dropped from the list of candidates and a place cannot be guaranteed after this time. Scholarship recipients, by accepting the scholarship and enrolling into an Istituto Marangoni programme, implicitly accept to became Istituto Marangoni Scholarship testimonial for the following Scholarship Campaigns, where requested. The regular attendance of the Master as well as the maximum commitment on the part of the Scholarship recipient will be a binding requisite to obtain the final certificate. The possible decision on the part of the Participant to postpone his/her participation to the Course will automatically lead to the cancellation of the scholarship assigned.
In case the selected Istituto Marangoni course is not activated for the February intake 2016 in the School of choice, the applicant may be offered to use the scholarship to enroll into the same course in another Istituto Marangoni School. Alternatively the applicant may select a similar course in the chosen School.


Jury
The Istituto Marangoni Scholarship Committee is composed by Istituto Marangoni leading Faculty members.
The Istituto Marangoni Scholarship Committee will unquestionably judge and select the most appropriate candidate profiles.


Required documents for Postgraduate Courses
The required documents to apply for a scholarship for a course at postgraduate level are:

  • Signed letter stating your motivation for a scholarship request
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • 2 reference letters
  • Copy of University Degree certificate
  • Copy of passport
  • Portfolio (where requested)
  • Grades Transcript

or

  • Original notarized copy of university degree certificate and Transcript (must be equivalent to a UK Bachelor Degree) and their official translation in English, if in a language different than English (for Master’s Degree Programme and Cycle de Spécialization, courses in English)*
Non-native English speakers need to provide a copy of the official English Language Certificate: The English language test score should be at least upper B2 on the CEFR level - i.e. IELTS overall score of 6.5 with no modules below 5.5** (for Master’s Degree Programme and Cycle de Spécialization, courses in English)

* candidates will have to meet a specific level of study (that can be checked on www.mmu.ac.uk/international, indicating country of education).
** the minimum English language requirements are subject to change and can be checked on www.mmu.ac.uk/international.

The required documents to apply for a scholarship for a course at undergraduate level are:

  • Signed letter stating your motivation for a scholarship request
  • Photocopy of High School Diploma and school certificates
  • Photocopy of passport
  • Curriculum Vitae

Maximum file size per upload is set to 2 MB.


Property rights
The candidate assures that all intellectual property rights used in the material provided are owned by the candidate or the candidate has a consent to use materials, texts or images of third parties. The candidate will keep Istituto Marangoni exempt, without limitation, from any claim, liability, costs, expenses, damages, injuries, direct and indirect losses,loss of business, that may raise to Istituto Marangoni as a consequence of direct or indirect use of third party materials, texts or images.
Candidates agree to allow Istituto Marangoni to use, severally or jointly, texts and images of their own dream; property rights of all images and texts shall be exclusively and definitively transferred to Istituto Marangoni, free of charge and without time limitation.
